Golden Vale Co-operative Mart (GVM Group) was established in 1956 as a co-operative society and opened its first livestock Mart in Kilmallock, Co. Limerick in 1958. From small beginnings, it has developed into a diversified group involved in livestock Marts, property auctioneering, property investment and development and renewable energy. Over the last 60 years, however, it has maintained its co-operative structure and ethos and is now a multi-faceted business with Shareholders Funds of over €20 million. GVM has now over 5,000 shareholders.
GVM has operated in Tullamore since the late 1960’s. It operates on Monday evenings (weanlings), Wednesdays (sheep) and Thursdays (cattle). It is particularly noted for its special pedigree sales which are regularly held on Saturdays. Its location in the centre of Ireland makes it the ideal location.
